A Visit to Goodwill and Creating a Community that Cares

On February 28, 2020 we visited the Goodwill Warner Warehouse to speak with Marketing and Communications Director, Eric Smissen. We were provided with a brief tour of the facility and history of how it all started. It was interesting to learn how the organization runs far deeper that just a cheap place to buy peoples' trash, but a multi billion dollar industry that first and for most cares about its community.

Goodwill was established in 1902 by a Methodist minister,  Rev. Edgar J. Helms. A philosophy of "helping each other" through reducing waste, reinventing it, and creating jobs. A sustainable lifestyle that functions from the heart and not the pocket.

Whether you donate, shop, or support Goodwill, you are connecting into an establishment that is creating a community that "cares".

All people, our environment, and our futures, Goodwill takes a positive part in making the world you live in, just a little bit sweeter.
